"Dr. Stephanie Thomas provides the clarity and historical context that is missing from modern medical training. Medicine as Myth shifted my perspective from symptom management to true medical sovereignty by exposing the flawed foundations of our current healthcare system. I now feel fully equipped to advocate for my own health using a 'nature-first' approach that actually works. This course is essential for anyone ready to stop following the crowd and start following the truth." - Samantha J.
WHAT WE WILL EXPLORE TOGETHER
This two-part series invites a deeper look at the story of modern medicine - how it came to shape our culture, our healthcare system, and our assumptions about the body, disease, and healing. Through these two classes, Stephanie Thomas will guide us into a thoughtful exploration of both the foundations of the current paradigm and the broader questions that arise as we begin to look beyond it.
Class One - The Untold Story of Modern Medicine:
The Engineering of Today’s Healthcare System
Most people recognize that our present-day for-profit healthcare model deprioritizes both ethics and patient health outcomes for financial gain, while many also sense that its deeper failures are rooted in the worldview upon which it was built.
Modern medicine did not arise organically from refined medical wisdom; it was engineered through industrial, political, and ideological forces that reshaped our understanding of the body, disease, and healing itself.
Although this history is well-documented, it remains largely absent from medical education and public discourse. This class examines the worldviews, historical forces, and economic interests that gave rise to the allopathic, pharmaceutical-centered model that now dominates healthcare.
We explore how traditional healing systems were displaced, how corporate interests rewrote medical education, how wartime science and chemical industries laid the groundwork for the pharmaceutical era, and how these converging forces created today’s medical-industrial complex.
Bringing this untold story to light reveals why the system functions not as a benevolent, purely scientific endeavor but as a corporate, industrial enterprise built on a disempowering narrative - one that portrays us as fragile machines in need of expert repair, obscuring the deeper truth of our own innate capacity to heal.
Class Two - Materialist Medicine to Quantum Possibilities:
Alternative Narratives Challenge the Old Paradigm
The longstanding materialist paradigm of modern medicine is increasingly being challenged as alternative frameworks emerge and offer us a more empowering and holistic view of the body, health, and human potential.
These competing models raise fundamental questions: Is the body a machine of isolated parts, or an intelligent, integrated system? Are health outcomes purely mechanical events, or expressions of broader environmental and internal conditions? And are we passive recipients of disease, or active participants in shaping the conditions in which health or illness arises?
This class examines the contrast between dominant materialist paradigms and emerging alternative models that emphasize interconnection, adaptability, and the continuous relationship between mind, body, and environment. We look at how these differing frameworks shape everything from our assumptions about illness to our expectations of what healing should look like.
By exploring how scientific worldviews influence our sense of agency and our understanding of human potential, we begin to see how the stories we inherit about health can limit us or open the door to a far more expansive vision of who we are and what we’re capable of.
About Your Instructor
Dr. Stephanie Thomas, PharmD, NTP, CGP, is the founder of Happy Gut Healthy Mind Nutrition in Fort Collins, Colorado. Trained as a Doctor of Pharmacy and informed by the ancestral nutrition principles advanced by the Weston A. Price Foundation, she blends scientific training with a holistic understanding of the body as an intelligent, self-regulating system.
During her time in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Thomas saw how the symptom-suppression, drug-centered model of healthcare overlooks root causes and often leads to unnecessary harm. This experience has motivated her to help individuals reduce avoidable reliance on pharmaceutical medications by strengthening foundational health through nutrition and lifestyle practices. She is a vocal critic of today’s industrialized food and healthcare systems that prioritizes profit over human and planetary wellbeing.
Dr. Thomas empowers people to question mainstream health narratives, recognize where modern systems have failed, and rebuild health from the inside out; supporting the body’s innate intelligence rather than working against it.
